John crop John Griffin is a transactional and litigation attorney handling general business matters and a variety of entertainment and media projects. Prior to becoming an attorney, John spent fifteen years on the production side, building deep understanding of the perspective of both creators and production companies.

John has served as in-house business affairs executive at Mark Burnett Productions and MGM. He has represented small and large clients in negotiations, disputes, and licensing matters in retail, sales, medical billing, startup ventures, and issues in all types of media. He is well-versed in the litigation process, including drafting complaints and motions, the discovery process, and arguing in court.

John is a member of the State Bar of California, admitted to practice in all California state courts as well as the Central District of California Federal Court. He earned his J.D. in the accelerated two-year program at Southwestern Law. John obtained his B.A. from Columbia University in the City of New York, and attended Choate Rosemary Hall.

John has written, produced, and directed nearly 30 episodes of A&E’s Biography series and E!’s True Hollywood Story, earning a Gracie Award, an Emmy nomination, and a Prism Commendation. He is a panel attorney with California Lawyers for the Arts and volunteers for L.A. for Choice. John likes 70s Sci-Fi, 80s electronic music, and odd board games. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, acclaimed YA author Gretchen McNeil.
